For the first time since the Ban R. Barbat, DDS-PC Scholarship was founded in 2002, the dental office of Ban R. Barbat, DDS has awarded a second annual scholarship. Michael Rozwadowski of Macomb, who will attend the Michigan State University this Fall, is the additional recipient of this award along with Linda Camaj of Shelby Township, who was announced earlier.
Michael graduated from Eisenhower High School, ranking fourth out of 669 students. In addition to achieving high grades in rigorous, advanced courses at the Utica Center For Mathematics, Science & Technology, he played varsity football, was a member of the jazz and marching bands, and was President of the National Honors Society.
Michael's desire to become a doctor was fueled through his school's Junior Professional Internships. One was at the Detroit Medical Center in the children’s unit where he watched surgery being performed. Another allowed him to shadow an Emergency Room doctor at Mt. Clemens Regional Medical Center.
"This scholarship helps defray expenses for college freshmen so they can focus on academics, first and foremost," states Dr. Barbat. "We felt, in today's economy, a second scholarship was a good investment in our community and its future."
