You’re Not Alone — Relief Is Possible

If you’ve lived with jaw pain, headaches, or popping and felt like nothing really helped, you’re not alone. Many patients come to us frustrated after years of failed treatments or uncertainty about what’s really causing their symptoms. Our approach is different: simple, effective, and focused on treating the cause of the problem and not just masking pain.

Understanding TMD

Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD) develops when the jaw joints and muscles are out of balance. This imbalance compresses the TMJ, often leading to:

  • Jaw pain or soreness
  • Clicking, popping, or grinding sounds
  • Headaches or facial pain
  • Ear ringing, pressure, or pain (we often see patients referred from ENTs)
  • Tooth wear or sensitivity
  • Difficulty fully opening or closing your mouth

How We Fix the Cause

The bite is the key lever in correcting most TMD conditions. When the bite is misaligned, the entire system is thrown out of balance causing joint compression, strain, and pain. By carefully changing the bite, we can restore harmony to the jaw, muscles, and joints.

Our Treatment Process

  1. Listening & Diagnosis: We start by understanding your history and symptoms. From there, we use advanced tools such as CBCT imaging, digital scanning, and jaw movement studies to evaluate how your bite is functioning. These allow us to measure bite strength, muscle fatigue, and clicking or imbalance — giving us a complete picture of what’s really happening and how to bring things back into balance.
  2. Reversible Bite Changes: Relief often begins with a custom daytime orthotic, and sometimes an additional nighttime orthotic. These appliances are comfortable, removable, and allow us to confirm that correcting the bite brings the system into balance before any permanent changes are considered.
  3. Relief First, Stability Next: Many patients notice relief within weeks. From there, some choose a long-term solution such as restorative dentistry, orthodontics, or reconstruction, to make the results permanent. Others may continue wearing an orthotic long term, which is also an effective option for maintaining comfort.
  4. Cause, Not Just Symptoms: Unlike approaches that only mask pain, our process addresses the underlying misalignment so you can enjoy lasting comfort and function.
