As a child and a teenager I spent many hours in a dental chair because of cavities.
It seemed like I always had some kind of dental problem, like a toothache or an abscess.
The bright side was that it got me interested in becoming a dentist, so I got a job as a dental assistant and a receptionist
Doing that confirmed to me that this is the career tailor made for me.
I love the environment, I love the variety of procedures that I saw the dentist do, and I loved interacting with different people all day.
Once I started practicing as a dentist, my love for what I do became the reward of changing people’s lives.
For example, getting a patient out of pain who has an infection from an abscess.
A patient who has daily headaches or dizziness that renders them unable to work or socialize, can find relief with TMJ treatment, a patient who is embarrassed to smile can experience joy once their smile is transformed.
People ask me all the time why I chose dentistry.
They tell me it’s not an easy profession at all. Well, if I were to go back and do it again, I would do nothing different.
This is truly my calling.
