Your Smile Can Trim Years Off Your Appearance!

added on: February 20, 2014

A 57-year-old friend told me she is trying to hold off until age 60 before she has a few facial ‘tucks.’ Beth said she’s noticed when she smiles (and she has a beautiful smile), her whole face has a more youthful appearance. “The sags lift up and I feel people are focused on my smile!” she added.

Not surprising to those of us in the dental profession are findings of a recent survey shared by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. The survey polled over 1,000 American adults (age 18 & over) to assess how today’s consumers invest in their appearance.

A whopping 80% of those polled said they would invest to minimize the effects of aging. And, while 48% claimed they would spend on weight loss measures, 62% said they would spend money on their smile. The study also found that females are more likely to invest in their smile than males.

It’s actually no new revelation that adults would opt to spend on smile enhancements compared to those seeking weight loss help. However, the percentage is higher than I realized. About half of Americans feel the appearance of a smile conceals the effects of aging while only 10% feel body shape detracts from one’s true age. Older adults (age 50 & over), claim a smile is a better feature at camouflaging the years than adults in the 18-29 age category.

The good news for ALL ages is that today’s cosmetic dentistry is performed in minimal time with optimal comfort. The results are natural looking and have exceptional longevity. Plus, interest-free financial plans are available so you can enjoy a fabulous smile while making manageable payments.
