Advanced Skills & Technology – We Offer Unique Advantages In Dental Implants.

added on: August 18, 2021

For those who wish to replace missing teeth, there are several options to consider. However, the ideal and lasting one is Dental Implants.

In our Shelby Twp dental office, we’ve taken certain measures to provide all stages of dental implant placement with advanced skills and technology.

The advantages of having dental implants placed through our dental office include:

• All stages of Dental Implant treatment in one, convenient location
• Oral and I.V. Sedation available for optimal comfort
• Advanced technology utilized for optimal implant selection and placement
• Neuromuscular dentistry incorporated for ideal positioning in bite alignment
• Final teeth with a natural look and feel
• Biting and chewing function restored

The commitment we’ve made to our Macomb and Oakland County patients includes a unique array of advanced technology. One that is especially helpful in determining the type and placement of dental implants is Cone Beam 3D Imaging.

Cone Beam images capture clear, concise 3D views in one pass at the lowest radiation levels possible. These images are ideal for assessing jaw structure for proper angles and depths in implant placement.

Proper placement of implants has a great deal to do with having a successful outcome. For instance, when an implant that is too long is placed in bone that is too shallow, it can have future repercussions that may require eventual removal. This can occur when a lower implant is placed too close to a nerve that runs horizontally through the mandible (jaw bone). Or, when an upper implant is placed in shallow bone, it may work its way into the sinus cavity.

In addition to the factors involved with bone loss, other issues can ‘make or break’ having a successful treatment outcome with dental implants. For example, people who have bite misalignment or TMJ disorders may be grinding or clenching their teeth during sleep. Known as ‘bruxing,’ these forces have been measured to be enough to crack a walnut! When dental implants endure these forces, especially during their ‘healing’ phase, they are at greater risk for implant failure. This is why it is important to rely on a neuromuscular dentist to oversee the diagnosis and treatment process.

Neuromuscular Dentistry is based on the understanding that all cranio-facial structures must work harmoniously during chewing, speaking, and in resting positions. Because disharmony in one area can be far-reaching, the results can lead to costly repairs and painful problems, including frequent headaches and migraines.

A Neuromuscular Dentist has a unique understanding of the disruptions to cranio-facial interactions. This area of dentistry enables these dentists to incorporate neuromuscular considerations into dental treatment or correct associated problems that have existed for years.

As a neuromuscular dentist, I take great pride in the precision fit of every restored tooth, including those attached to implants. Through proper bite alignment, our patients are able to avoid the m

any issues that can result.

Another advantage we offer dental implant patients is the use of a Dental Laser. This provides a precision line and actually helps to seal gum tissues as it goes. This eliminates or greatly minimizes bleeding of gum tissues, enhancing patient comfort with faster healing time.

In addition, our patients enjoy optimal comfort throughout treatment, including Oral or I.V. Sedation (‘twilight sleep’). In our Shelby Township dental office, these sedatives are administered by trained professionals who closely monitor patients throughout their procedure using advanced safety equipment.

Our goal is to help you get the most from your dental implants. When there are individual habits or preferences that can complicate success, we work with each patient to help them enjoy their dental implants for a lifetime. For example, smokers have particular challenges due to oral dryness. We make particular recommendations for at-home care so the associated risks can be minimized.
